What is the OLGB Clearinghouse?

In discussions with local governments and the contracting community, the Ohio Contractors Association’s (OCA) identified a desire on the part of both parties to enhance awareness of available bidding opportunities for highway projects.  For governments, there is a desire to draw more bidders to enhance competition resulting in the best possible pricing for the public funds they are entrusted to manage.  Contractors, in their never-ending and always expanding search for bidding opportunities, wish to quickly and efficiently identify projects on which to bid on a much larger geographic scale than is currently practical.  With those two goals in mind, OCA is now hosting the Ohio Local Government Bidding Clearing house, or OLGB Clearinghouse.

Think of the OLGB Clearinghouse as a compliment to the newspaper notices, which are currently mandated in the Ohio Revised Code, in an internet format.  It is important to note that this service is not electronic bidding.  The goal is to provide cost-free project awareness which serves as an initial screening for contractors to identify projects of interest and then make the identified contacts to further pursue a project.  For Ohio governmental entities of all sizes, it is a quick means of exposing the availability of your project to the maximum number of bidders possible with key information so that interested bidder can follow-up for more detailed information.

Who can use the OLGB Clearinghouse?

The OLGB Clearinghouse can be used by any county, township, city or local municipality in Ohio to list highway construction jobs.  Any contractor can use the OLGB Clearinghouse to search those jobs and find out the necessary information to bid on those jobs.  It is not required to be a member of the Ohio Contractors Association to utilize this service.
